Director’s Message - Centre Point School International

Director’s Message

In 1979, when my mother, Aruna Upadhyaya started her kindergarten with 80 children, nobody foresaw the meteoric rise that would follow.Since then, conversations around our family dinner table were dominated by school issues; children, teachers and parents. It was organic, the way our close family of 4 would put our heads together to come up with solutions, no matter how large or small. Thus it was, that at the tender age of 5, my training in education began.
The two things that my mother said constantly, were-
1. Keep the child at the centre of your decisions, and you will never go wrong.
and
2. Trust your gut.
Armed with this dinner-table training and a genuine love for the schools that had been like siblings to me, I went to the UK and the USA for professional training in education. 12 years later, I came back to run the schools, and give my mother, who, until then had run the schools day-to-day, a much needed retirement.

I’ve been at the helm of the schools for 5 years now, and it’s time for the next step. I feel confident taking a giant leap in a new direction. One, that I believe, will change the face of education in Nagpur – a new school, with an International Cambridge curriculum.
I believe that as responsible human beings, we must constantly evolve into better versions of ourselves. This holds true for education too. With the new Cambridge Curriculum, we hope to inspire our children to be confident, responsible, reflective, engaged and innovative learners and citizens. In Centre Point School International, we will constantly train ourselves, to give you and your children the very best of this dynamic curriculum.
Keeping the Joy Quotient of students at the forefront, I feel confident that Centre Point School International will scale dizzying heights, while ably embodying our motto – ‘Est optimum resurgemus’, or ‘Rise to your best’.

Futuristic Infrastructure - Centre Point School International, Nagpur

All New Pre-engineered Building (PEB) Technology

All New Pre-engineered Building (PEB) Technology

Using prefabricated steel columns and beams, this technology is commonly used in Japanese and American buildings. This is a highly efficient and time-saving method, as can be seen in our school building which will be completed in less than one year from breaking ground. It also results in much lower consumption of cement, hence ends up saving a large amount of water as well.

Green Structure with LEED Certification

Green Structure with LEED Certification

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a rating system devised by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) to evaluate the environmental performance of a building and encourage market transformation towards sustainable design. We are following all requirements for achieving the certification for LEED – Green schools design. This will include all considerations from materials used in construction, energy consumption of the structure and even furniture used in the building.

Lightweight Gypsum Board Drywall Partitions

Lightweight Gypsum Board Drywall Partitions

Instead of brick walls, we are using drywall partitions in the inner structure, which will keep the weight of the building lower and allow flexibility in space allocation, while also providing excellent heat insulation.

Solar Power Catering to 70% of our Energy Requirement

Solar Power Catering to 70% of our Energy Requirement

We will have approximately 100KW of rooftop solar power, which will cater to over 70% of our power needs. This includes power for air conditioning, classroom lighting, computer systems and even heating of the swimming pool.

Fully Air-conditioned Building With Treated Fresh Air and Radiant Cooling Technology to Reduce Energy Consumption

Fully Air-conditioned Building With Treated Fresh Air and Radiant Cooling Technology to Reduce Energy Consumption

This school will use a one of a kind floor cooling system(radiant cooling) to lower the energy consumption of the air conditioning system. The school building will have a chiller based air conditioning system with purified and fresh air circulation using treated fresh air (TFA).

Heated Swimming Pool

Vision: Centre Point School International

Centre Point Group of Schools, Nagpur was conceptualized by Mrs.Aruna Upadhyaya to provide quality education to children within the context of mutual respect and joy.
Since its inception in 1988, its aim has been to create awareness, develop skills according to the potential of individuals and train minds to unveil the mysteries of the surrounding environment for the benefit of mankind. Through a student-centered holistic approach to teaching-learning which respects the Individual needs of children, the schools aim to achieve physical and academic excellence, and consequently human excellence. Education is not a sporadic process which is confined to the four walls of the school. It is a continuous activity which takes into its ambit the influence of several other enriching factors. Thus children are allowed to work in an environment of freedom and motivation, of acceptance and appreciation.
Students are not bound within limited academic parameters only but are given creative freedom and direction to develop as useful, happy and self-reliant members of society. Through visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning, the schools aspire to ensure improvement of the physique, enrichment of the mind, sublimation of emotions and refinement of spirits.
The schools believe that all humans are born alike. It is education which makes them different. This distinction in every alumnus is the goal of the schools.

Mission: Centre Point School International

Mission

The JQ Methodology

As educators, we take into serious consideration the other Q’S, viz. the IQ or Intelligence Quotient, the EQ or Emotional Quotient and the SQ or Social Quotient. IQ takes into account the mental ability of the child, how competent he is to grasp and assimilate information and how fast and elegantly he can comprehend and solve problems. EQ takes into account how well adjusted he is emotionally to the world, the harmonious balance between his inner self and the outer life. SQ considers him as a social being, his “smooth” interaction with his peer group, his teachers, parents and elders
Educationists at Centre Point School International as well as the other Centre Point Schools strongly believe in the JQ also. JQ refers to the Joy Quotient and as teachers we take this Quotient into consideration as seriously as we do the others. Children must enjoy learning, for learning without fun is no learning at all. Learning by doing projects, field trips, nature walks, challenging assignments, games and puzzles are all methods of joyful learning. We employ a variety of methods to guard against monotony, the kill –joy. Therefore to ensure our children enjoy learning as much as we enjoy teaching, we brainstorm and discuss with colleagues, plan and programme well in advance and yet keep the flexibility to adapt to changing interests of the class as we go along.
At times a” joyful” lesson may mean a noisy, “indisciplined “class. We remember that when students become actively involved, and no longer remain passive listeners, they talk, discuss, argue, in short, make noise but at the same time they learn much more, from the teacher, from their classmates and from themselves.
May be, not all our students truly realize the boundless joy of moving from information to knowledge to wisdom. But we surely take them by the finger to discover for themselves the joy of moving from ignorance to information and some to knowledge, and leave them at the end of the rainbow, allowing the Einsteins and Shaws to joyfully walk ahead to wisdom.
